01 About

About
KILF.

The Kollam International Literature Festival is a new gathering of writers, readers, filmmakers, musicians, artists and thinkers on the shore of Ashtamudi Lake. Its first edition runs across five days, from the last night of 2026 into the first days of 2027.

Rooted in Malayalam and open to the world, KILF brings masters and new voices face to face with their readers, in sessions, performances, a book fair, a youth stage and evenings of food and music by the water.

02 Why KILF

A festival for
a reading city.

Kerala reads. KILF brings that love of reading out into the open: into conversations, onto stages and down to the water’s edge, where writers and readers meet as equals and young voices share the stage with the masters.

03 The place

Why
Ashtamudi?

A lake of eight arms, an ancient port and the town that gave Malayalam its calendar — Kollam has always been where stories arrive.

A wide, still lake at dusk with palm islands on the horizon, a wooden jetty with an open book, and leaves in the foreground.
